However, there are also many local parties held here that shouldn’t be missed.
In this blog, we will skip the relatively major events and instead introduce you to some lesser-known, must-see local parties that happen weekly on the island. Just attending the Full Moon Party would be a big miss for true party enthusiasts! Koh Phangan is a party island that rivals even Ibiza!
Rasta Home
As you might guess from the name, Rasta Home is an event centered around reggae music. Many tourists are unaware of it, but if it’s reggae you’re looking for on Koh Phangan, this is the place to be! Rasta Home features a large stage where bands perform live music. It’s not an intense party, so it’s also recommended for those new to the party scene. The location is in Haad Yao on the western side of Koh Phangan. The entry fee is 100 baht. The event is held every Friday, opening at 20:00 and lasting until about 03:00.
OXA Beach
This is a techno party held every Wednesday. The entrance fee is 500 baht, but you can buy advance tickets for 250 baht, so check out their Instagram account. The event flyers are stylish, attracting a younger, more energetic crowd than other parties. If you get tired of dancing on the floor, you can chill in a hammock on the beach, enjoying the pleasant breeze. The party starts at 21:00 and goes on until sunrise. OXA Beach is a must-do after Seaboad! The location is on the way from Ban Tai to Haad Rin.
HOLLY STONE
Holly Stone is a party held every Saturday, featuring Tech House music. The venue, a repurposed elementary school ruin, is easily accessible from the west side of the island. No matter when you go, the place is always buzzing with excitement. The venue is spacious, allowing everyone to chat or chill outside when they need a break. The crowd is generally younger, but there are many in their 30s and 40s as well. The vibe of the attendees is cool, and the manners are top-notch. The atmosphere among the event staff is also great, making it a party where you can dance all night long. Doors open at 20:00, and entry is free until 21:00. The party usually goes on until about 03:00. The entrance fee is 400 Baht. The party had been on a break but resumed in September 2023. This is a recommended party for anyone who wants to get pumped up with House Music!
SEA BOARD
When talking about parties on Phangan Island, you can’t miss the Sea Board Party. As soon as you step foot here, you’ll find rows of stalls selling handmade accessories, apparel, and paintings all the way to the venue. Each stall was bustling with customers. The genre depends on the DJ but is primarily Tech House. What surprised me when I first attended this party was the friendliness of the guests and the unity on the dance floor. There was not a single person who wasn’t excited or dancing. The dance floor isn’t very large, but it was overflowing with people dancing even outside. Everyone from right next to the DJ to those outside were dancing non-stop, from the peak until the last laugh. It’s always like that, so you can witness some incredible scenes. Moreover, entry is free!
And photography is prohibited! Actually, using your phone is prohibited! Be careful because you will be severely scolded if you take out your mobile on the dance floor.
The party is held every Wednesday from 18:00 until about midnight. It’s the party I recommend the most on Phangan Island! Personally, I think it’s better than the Full Moon Party. The OXA Beach Party right after this is a must-go!
